Our Installation Process
Our installation process to transform your space begins with our free site estimate. When you meet with our Cal Pro sales professional, we’ll go over all of your needs and goals with your new artificial turf landscaping as well as answer any questions you might have. Then we will provide you with a detailed estimate. Once approved, we’ll schedule your installation.
Site Preparation
The first step for installation begins with site preparation. We will remove old grass, other landscaping or debris. The next step is to create a level base layer for the new artificial turf with a combination of gravel and sharp sand. That that base is compacted. This is a critical step with attention to detail to ensure the finished install is successful.
We may also lay weed fabric or gopher guard in certain situations.
If there are any hardscape or borders within the plan, those will be addressed in this stage.
Laying the Artificial Turf
The artificial turf comes rolled and is laid out much like carpet to install. We will unroll and lay the turf out prior to installation. The turf is trimmed and installed following our project plan.
How long does installation take?
Installation varies depending on the size and complexity of your project.
Here are some typical installation times:
- up to 500 square feet is 1-2 days
- 500-1000 square feet is 3-5
- 1000- 2000 square feet is 7-10 days
Finishing
One your new artificial turf is installed, we will add infill, which will help keep the blades in an upright position. Infill can be made from many different materials such as: rounded washed sand, acrylic coated sand (used for pets and playgrounds), walnut shells (organic option), coconut husks (organic option), natural stone zeolite (used in pet installations) and black granulated rubber/sand mixture (sports fields only).
The infill you selected will be placed and then the entire artificial turf area will be brushed to push the infill to the bottom and stand up the blades.
Our residential artificial turf products are typically warrantied up to 15 years, commercial 10 years, and putting greens 7 years.
